About this product

Replacement reagents and consumables for the home kit issued with the AP Chemistry Laboratory Seminar. Everything that gets used up across the eleven experiments, in the quantities a second run through them needs.

The durable items — burette, stand, balance, colorimeter — are not in here. If one of those has broken, contact us rather than buying this.

What is in the box

  • Sodium hydroxide and hydrochloric acid, pre-diluted to seminar concentrations

  • Acetic acid and sodium acetate for the buffer work

  • Copper sulfate hydrate for the gravimetric determination

  • Potassium permanganate for the colorimetry sequence

  • Indicator set: phenolphthalein, methyl orange, bromothymol blue

  • Zinc and copper strips plus salt bridge material for the galvanic cell

  • Chromatography paper and solvent

  • Sixty filter papers, thirty weighing boats and a pack of disposable pipettes

Safety, plainly

Everything in this kit is at domestic-safe concentration and every reagent may be disposed of down a normal drain with running water. That is a genuine constraint on which experiments the seminar can set, and we would rather state it than pretend the syllabus was unlimited.

The two acids will still sting broken skin and will still ruin a shirt. Goggles are included and the seminar expects them to be on.

Ships in a rigid case. Some destinations restrict liquid reagent shipping; if yours does, checkout will say so before you pay rather than after.

Kestrel logo Kestrel

Kestrel is an online school based in Denver, Colorado, teaching students across the United States and in more than thirty countries. We run small live sections and self-paced courses in AP and honors subjects, SAT and ACT preparation, college application writing, and academic English for international applicants. Live sections cap at sixteen students, every course is taught by a licensed teacher or a subject specialist rather than a rotating pool of tutors, and every recording, transcript and worked solution stays in your library for a full year. Sections run in three time zone bands, so a student in Seoul or Sao Paulo is never asked to sit a calculus class at three in the morning.
